Dolores Rose ValsvigAugust 30, 1926 – November 10, 2017Dolores Rose Kribell was born in Beresford, South Dakota. She was raised on a farm, one of ten children of Lewis and Kathrine Kribell. All the children took part in chores on the farm and after the day was done they would gather around the piano for music and song. All the children were encouraged to learn an instrument and participate. After completion of school Dolores went to nursing school and upon her graduation moved out west to California. She met Roger Valsvig, from Rapid City, South Dakota, in Los Angeles. He was immediately smitten with her and they married not long after. They raised five children, Linda, Steven, Mona, Jeff, and Jerry. While raising her children she continued her working career. She worked at Queen of the Angels, in Los Angeles, the old Seaside hospital in Long Beach, did a stint of private duty work and worked for Dr. William Eddy as well as being Assistant Director of Nurses at Pacific Hospital and also set up and ran the first aid station on the Queen Mary. Throughout her career she was active in the American Nurses Association and represented the local chapter at their national convention. Her family and friends always played an important part in her life and she loved visiting and sharing stories with them all. She is survived by her brother Lewie Kribell of South Dakota, her five children and their spouses, ten grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.Funeral services, celebrating the life of Dolores, were held on Friday, November 17, 2017 followed by interment with her beloved Roger at the All Souls Cemetery.
