Dolores Gillette was born in Los Angeles on August 13, 1932 and was called Home by the Good Lord on April 9, 2018. Having lived her earliest years in Los Angeles, she moved with our parents and older brother to Long Beach in 1939, from where she eventually graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1950. She graduated from Long Beach City College in 1952 with an Associate Arts degree, and eventually went to work as a customer service representative with General Telephone Co., retiring after thirty years of service in 1987. She also volunteered for a number of years at the local jazz radio station, KLON, as well as working part time during tax season for a local tax service.

Lorie, as she was known as by her immediate family and closest friends, was a fun loving, social person, who enjoyed traveling around the country and to Europe in her retirement years. She was also a lifelong sports fan with her passion being the UCLA football and basketball programs, and the California/Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. She was also an ex season ticket holder of the Los Angeles Rams, as well as a strong fan of the 1960’s – 1990’s Los Angeles Lakers. She lived life to the fullest until severe rheumatoid arthritis took its toll on her in her final years. Dolores was preceded in death by our parents, Robert and Josephine Gillette, and is survived by her brothers Robert and John Gillette, sisters in law Doris Gillette and Ginger Gillette, nieces Nancy Moreno, Mary Lou Gillette, Linda Blits, Kathleen Zwickl, and Tracie Gillette, and nephews John and Daniel Gillette, as well as numerous grand nieces and nephews. Rosary and funeral mass will be held at St. Barnabas Church on Friday, April 13, at 10:00 am, with internment to follow at All Souls Cemetery. The Gillette family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Los Alamitos West for their absolute loving care of our beloved sister and aunt. They also would like to give special thanks to Susie Donahue who not only was Lorie's caregiver in her final years, but also became a very close friend of hers.
