Diane Klimas

Diane Klimas, 73, passed away on May 11, 2022, in Long Beach, California. She died peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Diane was the daughter of Marian Ritz and Edward Klimas. She is survived by her only son, Josh Klimas, his wife Lisa, and their children, Gabby and Alex.

Diane worked as a secretary in the Chemistry Department at Wayne State University for over 30 years. She was dedicated to supporting her professors and graduate students, and highly valued education. She also attended culinary school for a time, and enjoyed cooking for friends and family.

Diane lived the majority of her life in Michigan where she enjoyed gardening and cared for her mother, Marian, until she passed. She moved to California in 2011 where she lived the rest of her life at home with her son and his family.

She loved showering gifts and attention on her grandchildren and was their first playmate and confidant. Some of her favorite things were angels, bunnies, movies (particularly a good love story), books, and a really tasty potato salad or samosa.

Diane was a truly compassionate, gentle, thoughtful, and generous soul. She will be forever missed. The wonderful memories she left behind and her legacy of love and kindness remain a source of comfort and happiness for her family and friends.

Her memorial service will be held on June 11, 2022 at 12:30 PM at the Luyben Dilday Mortuary in Long Beach with a luncheon to follow immediately afterward.
