Diane Florence Butren

Diane Florence (Symonowicz) Butren, 78 years of age, passed away on October 9, 2024 in Long Beach, California surrounded by her family. Diane was born on September 5, 1946, in Long Beach, California, to Hipolit and Florence Symonowicz.

Diane grew up in Long Beach, California and graduated from Millikan High School in 1964. Diane was married for 56 years to Frank Raymond Butren who wed on August 17, 1968, at St Cornelious Church in Long Beach.  She met her husband Frank after he came knocking on her front door to use the phone, after his car broke down on Clark Avenue.  They had two children during their marriage, Stacey Jeanne McCoy (Bob McCoy) and Wendy Mar Mullins (Mike Mullins).

Diane enjoyed spending time at their family cabin at Rock Creek Lake. Over the years, she rescued many cats from various locations, including the swap meet, and gave them loving homes.

Diane is survived by her husband Frank, her children Stacey and Wendy and her three grandchildren Megan, Michael and Tyler. Her ashes will be spread at her family cabin in the sierras.

In lieu of flowers , the family asks that donations be made to St Jude Children's Hospital or Ronald McDonald House, two charities that were close to Diane's heart.
