David ‘Dave’ Louis Witte was born to Louis and Janet ‘Jan’(Schmidt) Witte in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 30, 1958. He grew up in Glendale, Arizona with his parents, his older brother Terry, and his younger brother Tom. He loved playing sports when he was younger and always enjoyed watching and playing volleyball and golf. He graduated in 1982 from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
He moved to Long Beach, California where he was very active in the volleyball community. He could be found in a gym or on the beach, playing, coaching, or refereeing volleyball. Dave welcomed his beautiful daughter Alyssa in July of 1991. He was always excited to hear about all her adventures and activities. He loved her deeply and was very proud of her.
Dave had worked for Lever Brothers, Long Beach Parks and Recreation, and taught Physical Education for the Los Angeles Unified School District. He called Andrew Carnegie Middle School his second home and was constantly inspired by the students and faculty.
Dave passed away in his home in Seal Beach, California on December 13, 2016. He is preceded in death by his niece Jayme and his father Louis. He is survived by his daughter Alyssa, his mother Jan, his brother Terry (Sandy), Tom (Connie) and his three nephews Kevin, Ryan, and Louis.
We're gathering at Mother's Beach (his favorite place) on Saturday January 14th at 4:30pm to say a prayer and share some stories and watch the sunset together.
In lieu of flowers we're asking people to please consider a donation in his name to a children's or education charity.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you.
Acknowledgements: Alyssa wishes to express her heartfelt thanks for the love and support during this time of bereavement. A sincere thanks the Carnegie MS family and to Luyben/Dilday-Mottell Mortuary.
