Darlene B. Talamantes, age 80, passed away at her home in Long Beach, surrounded by her family on Friday, July 7, 2017.  She was born on February 28, 1937 in Long Beach, CA to Byron and Zora Viney. She is survived by her husband, Tony; her children, Pam (Lee), Marvin (Sunni), Aaron, and Christie (Jeff); Grandchildren, Donald, Monica, Heather, Aubrey, Austin, Todd (deceased), Anthony, Jason, Crystal, Jeffrey, Justin, and Carissa; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.

Darlene was proud to have been born in Long Beach, went to school in Long Beach, then raised her family in Long Beach. Many of her grandchildren also grew up in the Long Beach area, which made Darlene happy and allowed her to be actively involved in their daily lives.

Darlene had two, much older siblings (both deceased) growing up and enjoyed her family time with them. Darlene loved rollercoasters and the beach, and spent many days at the old Pike in Downtown Long Beach. She would also spend many days at the movies as a child, which is a tradition she brought to her grandchildren. Darlene loved taking her many grandchildren to the movies and buying everyone popcorn and sodas.

Anyone who knew Darlene, knew her happy spirit and welcoming smile for everybody. She was an extrovert who enjoyed talking with her friends, and strangers! She became involved in every activity she was a part of. When her children were growing up, she was the PTA President at Mark Twain Elementary School, Room Parent, Team Mom for Lakewood Pop Warner, Snack Bar Rep and Ladies Auxiallary Board President at LVLL, just to name a few.

Being a part of the Catholic Community here at St. Cyprian, she has made many lifelong friends. Darlene was also involved with many activites at the Church. She was part of the Bereavement Committee, the Communityfest, Feed the Hungry, and of course, the Welcoming Committee.

Darlene always wanted to take care of everybody and make sure they had everything they needed. She loved feeding everyone and was always thinking of others. Even when she was sick, she asked all of her visitors about their families and if they needed anything.

We will all miss Darlene, but we know she is spreading her love and joy from Heaven and will be there to welcome us to our eternal home with a big hug and kiss!

Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00am, St. Cyprian Catholic Church.
