Darlene Frances Benson

Darlene (North) Benson was born on November 17, 1948 and died at home on October 29, 2023.  She lived in Long Beach for her entire life. She had no children but is survived by extended family and the children of her brothers, Robert North and Terry North.

They often say that people are stunted at the age of struggle and Aunt Dar was ever the teenager at heart - silly, childlike, trusting, a bit reckless. She loved cats, donuts, puffed corn, pink roses and boys… and that “MaryJane”. She loved her brother Terry deeply and said part of her died when he passed away. She was incredibly sentimental and loved to hang on to possessions that reminded her of better times. Very often you could witness her taking something sweet out of her purse and handing it to a child or a homeless person. Rest easy in the clouds, Darlene!
