Daniel Charles Happoldt passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 24, 2019 at the age of 80. He was born in Fresno, raised in Stockton and was a resident of Los Alamitos for over 49 years. Dan was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Rosemary Castanon Happoldt and their four children Christopher (Katie), Eric, Keith (Rachel), Megan (Mike) and their eight adoring grandchildren to whom he was known as Papa. Dan is also survived by his brother Richard Connolly Happoldt (Heide) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Proceeded in death by his parents Mae and Charles Happoldt. He was a graduate of Cal State Hayward and St. Mary’s High School in Stockton. Dan owned his own pool cleaning business for many years and was known as “Dan the Poolman” to his clients and friends. Like a true SoCal native, you could find Dan heading out to work in his shorts and straw hat. Dan was kind hearted, generous and a mentor to many. The family would like to thank the caring doctors and nurses of Los Alamitos Oncology Group and the Long Beach Memorial Todd Cancer Center. Dan will be greatly missed but never forgotten. There will be a memorial mass in his honor at 8:30am on Monday, July 15 at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Los Alamitos. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
