Dale Edwards Saas was born on February 28, 1940, to Edward and Madge Saas in Olean, New York. He was the oldest of four sons Dale, Roy, Larry, and Erroll. At a young age, he moved to Compton, California and graduated from Compton High School.
He met the love of his life, Barbara Joann Floe, at Tastee Freez in Compton, and married her in June 1958.
When he was at Compton high school, he played in the band with his friend Ernie. He played saxophone and clarinet, and his first job was with the Herald American Newspaper, and then in 1966 he was hired with the Los Angeles Police Department, Harbor Division, retired with them after 25 years.
They had four children Candise, Randall (Christine), Edward and Dawn (Kelepi) Tuipulotu. His grandchildren are Randall Adam, Jacob Allen (Racheal), Samantha June, Trista Nicole (Juan) Valadez, Luisa Barbara Tuipulotu, and step grandson Christopher Mihkelson along with great grandchildren: Raeleigh, Jacob and Luciano.
Dale and his wife Barbara and children traveled in their RV throughout the United States on the kids’ summer vacations. They also, with their boat and RV, traveled many times to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where Barbara’s mother and father retired. Dale had a close bond with his in-laws, and made many happy memories throughout the years.
Dale also enjoyed working on cars and going to car shows. You could often find him in his den watching a good western movie or even just a little comedy show on TV with his neighbor Bill.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Candy in 1982 and his wife Barbara in May 2000.
Dale was a loving son husband, father, father-in-law grandfather great grandfather, uncle, friend, and neighbor, who was always willing to help when needed.
