CYNTHIA ANN O’NEIL
JANUARY 17, 1947 – DECEMBER 8, 2016
Cindy was born in Merced, CA. She was raised in Rossmoor and graduated from Western High School. She lived in Lakewood over 40 years and retired from Long Beach Unified School District as a secretary in the attendance office and finished her career in the book room at Lakewood High School.
Cindy (Kini) married Walter “Spud” O’Neil on Oahu in Hawaii on August 16, 1990. They were married at Laie on the north shore. Cindy had many interests. She loved to be with family, garden in the front and back yards and also was an amateur interior decorator. She dabbled in photography and made many pictures into posters. She was handy at crafts, making many Hawaiian shell wreaths. She rescued animals, especially dogs, cats, birds and possums and found them homes. Her passion was traveling, making over 70 trips to Hawaii. She also loved Palm Springs, Del Mar, Santa Barbara and Shelby, NC.
Cindy is survived by her husband “Spud”, her mother Lois Byers, her children Chris Bass and Stephanie (Simon) Dreisbach, her stepdaughter Kara O’Neil, her sister Sally (Chuck) Ingle, her niece Meredith Ingle, her cousins John (Laura) Stringer and Skip Webb and her granddaughters Hannah, Rylee and Cate Dreisbach.
A celebration of life will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church at 11 am on Saturday, January 7, in Long Beach at 4644 Clark Ave.
There will be a reception immediately after the service at Walter O’Neil’s residence.
