Conway Christian Conner, Chris as we all call him left us very unexpectedly on June 1, 2023. Chris was born in the Philippines on March 9, 1941. His parents were Godfrey Conner and Electra Arville. He later attended school at De La Salle College from kindergarten through high school. Chris joined the US Air Force at 21. He lived at Clark Air Force Base in Manila for four years and settled in California after his eight years in the Air Force.
Chris was a man of too many hobbies and loved them all. He worked with radios, was a member of the radio club and was a ham radio enthusiast. He loved the time he spent flying or just kicking back at the marina spending time at the boat and chit chatting with the guys more than taking the boat out it seemed. We always laughed about that. He enjoyed being Port Captain of the Marina for two years. It was his chance to organize parties, have music and dance.
Chris also had a love of driving anywhere. On a good day it was San Clemente, Santa Barbara, and San Juan Capistrano where his favorite coffee shop “The Yellow House” was. It made the worst coffee ever, but it was a military owned place covered with trees and he could sit outside there for hours. He loved his late evening drives to LA to his favorite taco truck and then straight down Hollywood Blvd. simply to see and hear what he called “the sounds of Hollywood”. He so enjoyed our group gatherings with the Assumption friends where he was named “official Photographer”, our Vegas friends to where he would hop in the car in a moments notice to join them on their Thursday lunches. He enjoyed the company of many other dear friends far and near that we often see or visit. He maintained contact with his former classmates. He looked forward to Christmas at our home on the 24th and at the Elherts on Christmas Day.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years Maricar, his only brother Sonny, his children, brothers in law, his many nieces and nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and a great granddaughter.
Chris will be so missed!
He will be cremated per his request and will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn at a later date.
Rest in peace dear Chris! We love you so much!
