Clara Elizondo Vega

Clara Elizondo Vega, age 88, of Lakewood, CA, was reunited with her parents and twelve siblings on June 30, 2019. The last-born daughter of Juanita and Adrian Elizondo, she was born in Ruth, Nevada on July 27, 1930. Her family settled in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she graduated from West High School. She was the last surviving member of the Elizondo family's first generation.

She met her husband of 65 years, John Vega, Sr. in 1952. They were married on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1953. Their union produced five children, Patricia Vega Reid, John Vega Jr. (Sandra), Ronald (Betty), Kathy Vega Poyer (Doug), and Paul Vega.

The greatest joy in Clara's life was her family, but more importantly, her twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her purpose in life was to be a housewife, mother, "Grandma-Clara", and friend. She loved caring for and nurturing the people who surrounded her. She always had a smile and will be remembered by her sweet and gracious personality. She was truly loved by all.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Luyben Dilday Mortuary (5161 Arbor Road, Long Beach 90808). And to honor her wishes, please join them for a Catholic Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2019, at St. Barnabas Catholic Church (3955 Orange Avenue, Long Beach, 90807.)

Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery - Cypress (4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress 90630). Wake to follow after burial. The family finds peace in knowing that her final resting place is near her big sister, Jessie.
