Chow Wei Li Profile Photo

Chow Wei (Jo) Li was born in the tumultuous period of 1930’s China, a second child of a large family. Growing up in that time made her independent and capable. As the events of Sino-Japan and WWII ravaged the country, she survived on the strength of her will and wits. She was placed in the care of her aunt and emigrated to Taiwan.

She made many life-long friends while attending National University of Taiwan. She met and married Hung Chiang Li until he passed away in 2006. She raised their son Peter alone for 5 years in Taiwan while Hung Chiang pursued his advanced degree in the US. She and Peter moved to America in 1969 and eventually settled in Colorado where she gave birth to her second son, Paul. After raising Paul, Jo worked as a hotel manager for 15 years before retiring in Los Angeles to enjoy her golden years.

Jo treasured her friends and is very spontaneous. She had a wonderful singing voice and was often asked to perform. Her favorite pastime was to tell tales of her children when they were young and the events of her youth. She was a great cook and was always the main chef in family gatherings.

Jo was survived by her two sons, Peter and Paul, their wives, Jin and Grace, and five grandchildren, Jason, Anna, Derek, Victor, and Ian.
