Charles Ralph Wachter
May 30, 1926 — February 6, 2020
Charles Ralph (Chuck) Wachter was born May 30, 1926 in Long Beach, California and Our Lord took him home on February 6, 2020. He was the sixth child of Charles and Marie Wachter. He attended St. Matthews Parish School and Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach. After high school he enlisted into the U.S. Navy Air Force for air-sea rescue work. He was a World War II veteran in the Navy Air Corp for 4 years.
Chuck met and fell in love with Kathleen, and they married on January 3, 1953. They were blessed with eight wonderful children who meant the world to him. He was an electrician in Long Beach for 45 years. He volunteered and gave countless hours in electrical work to help set up and establish The Precious Life Shelter in Los Alamitos. He has been a loyal parishioner of St. Maria Goretti for almost 70 years and has been active in the St. Joseph High School and St. John Bosco High School communities.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife Kathleen (Susanka) Wachter and his eight children, Katie (Dave), Erin, Dan, Kevin (Cheryl), Michelle, Shannon (Jim), Shawn (Catherine), Chad (Melinda), as well as 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
