Charles Edwin Kuskie known as Chuck to family and friends died on May 19, 2021, at the age of 84 in Long Beach Ca. after fighting a nine-year battle with cancer.
Chuck is survived by his wife Sheila Ann after 64 years of marriage and five sons Michael, Daniel, Robert, William, and Joseph, (Rose) Kuskie, grandchildren Joshua, (Stacie), Andrew, Matthew, Kevin, Jamie, and great grandson Parker.
Chuck was born on September 4, 1936, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Edward Walton and Florence Josephine Kuskie.
He was the second oldest of four children and is survived by his two sisters Barbara, Karen and his brother Harley, ten nephews, ten nieces, many good friends and neighbors.
Chuck went to Grant Elementary School, where he met his two best friends CB Sewell (best man) and Dick Brown (groomsman) at his wedding. They had a lifelong friendship and now all three have joined together again.
He went to Lindbergh Jr. High and graduated from Jordan High School where he met the love of his life Sheila Ann. They were married at St Athanasius Catholic Church in 1956. In 1960, Chuck moved his family to Lakewood and they joined St. Pancratius Church and the boys went to school there, where Sheila remains a parishioner to this day.
He was a marble setter in the union Local #2 for 20 years. Chuck ventured into a new business of a wholesale manufacturing statuary. He started in his garage and eventually he opened a small shop. As the business grew, Chuck had moved to a larger commercial building selling wholesale statuary as C & S Plaster Arts which was very successful for 25 years until he retired.
Chuck enjoyed gatherings with family and friends; coloring Easter eggs, carving pumpkins at Halloween with his grandchildren, family barbecues and all occasions that brought his family together. He had a love for sports of which his favorite was football as he cheered on the Kansas City Chiefs and was so proud when they won the Superbowl.
The City of Lakewood Mayor invited Chuck and family to a Christmas celebration. This is where the mayor was giving out awards for various outstanding contributions to City of Lakewood recipients and many Good Neighbors. Chuck was called up on the stage and his picture was taken with the mayor for being a Good Neighbor. Someone wrote in and said he was a good-hearted person who watched over his neighborhood, took in their trash cans, helped on the cars if they needed a hand; just an all-around good person with a big smile and a great sense of humor.
He was truly loved and will be missed. Goodbye for now until we meet again may God hold you in the Palm of His Hands.
