Beloved brother, uncle and friend
Charles “Gary” Huffman, known affectionately as Gary by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025 in his hometown of Long Beach, California, at the VA Hospice center.
Gary was born at Long Beach Community Hospital. He attended Fremont Elementary, Jefferson Junior High and Woodrow Wilson High School. After graduating Gary attended Brigham Young University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1973.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in a variety of church responsibilities. From September 1964 - September 1966 he served full time in the Southern States Mission. He was an excellent teacher of the gospel! Everyone wanted to attend his classes! He always brought treats which made everyone happy to be there.
Gary joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War in 1968. He spent time serving in Germany and South Korea. He enjoyed serving his country and seeing many parts of the world. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1971 and returned to BYU to complete his education.
His happiest times were being with family. He was adored by his nieces and nephews. He could make everyone laugh with his stories. In his later years his eating habits were a little unconventional. His favorite foods were Ding Dongs, Pinwheel cookies, Crunch bars, M&M’s, and KitKats followed by a Diet Pepsi chaser.
He will be missed. We are comforted knowing he is no longer in pain. We love you Gary!!
Gary is proceeded in death by his parents, John and Beth Huffman. He is survived by his brother John( Suzanne) Huffman, sister Peggy Huffman, nieces Jona (Kirk) Howe, Jamie (Mark) Mastergeorge, Holly Newman, Melissa Trueblood, Jeff (Gina) Huffman, 15 great nieces and nephews followed by 8 great greats! Truly blessed!!!

Viewing will be Tuesday September 23, 2025 at Luyben Dilday Mortuary located at 5161 E. Arbor Rd., Long Beach, CA 90808 from 5 to 7 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday September 24, 2025 at 1:15p.m. at the Riverside National Cemetery located at 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, California 92518.
