Charles "Chuck" Roehrig , age 90, a longtime resident of Long Beach, California, passed away on May 22, 2024. Chuck was born to William and Agnes Roehrig on January 28, 1934, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. They moved to Pasadena, California, in 1936. Chuck had a sister, Mary Ellen, and two half-brothers, Billy Roehrig and Bill Curry. He attended Cathedral High School, where he played football and held the school record for the 40-meter hurdles for many years.

In 1953, Chuck joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. When he returned to California in 1956, he attended college at Loyola University while also taking classes at UCLA and USC. During this time, he met his sister's friend, Zita Meszaros, the love of his life; they married July 12, 1959. Chuck graduated with a degree in accounting in 1960 and got his CPA license in 1963. Chuck initially worked for several accounting firms before leaving to build his own accounting business in the late 1970s, which he ran until he retired in 2015.

Chuck loved to walk and could often be found taking leisurely strolls, enjoying life's simple pleasures, and marveling at the beauty of the world around him.  He also loved camping, fishing, magic, playing FreeCell on the computer, spending time with his family, and traveling with his beloved wife, Zita; they took 14 cruises together exploring the world.

Chuck enjoyed giving back to the community and was a member of several organizations, including The Exchange Club, The Lions Club, The Elks, and the Boy Scouts of America.  He was also a magician in good standing at the Magic Castle in Los Angeles, CA.

A memorial service will be held for Chuck at St. Joseph's Church in Long Beach on June 10, 2024, at 10 AM.  He will be laid to rest at the Riverside National Cemetery the following day.

Chuck is survived by Zita, his wife of 65 years, his sister Mary Ellen, and six children - Theresa, John, Kathe, Cheri, Robert, and James - 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
