Catherine M. Arrow

Catherine Mae Arrow was born November 20, 1928 and was raised in Vail, Iowa in a large family, one sister and four brothers. The family lost their father in a tragic accident when they were still young. Later, her brothers began moving to California. Her mother traveled to Long Beach to consider moving as well. She got settled and sent for the two youngest children to join her in California. Catherine and Roger, accompanied by a family friend, traveled by train to California when she was just a teenager. Once in Long Beach she attended Rogers Junior High School and Woodrow Wilson High School.

Kay met the love of her life through a close friend. She married Stan Arrow on February 8, 1948. They raised two children, Patricia and Steven in Lakewood, CA. Kay was very proud of her family and involved in their lives. She has seven grandchildren, Bryan, Brent, Brandon & Marissa Glonchak, Kevin, Daniel, & Scott Arrow. Her great-grandchildren had been the recent joy of her life: Elijah & Noah, Cole & Ayla, Brady & Katelyn Glonchak and most recently, Annabelle Arrow, along with her many nieces and nephews.

Kay worked a number of years as an insurance processor once her family was raised. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family once she retired. Kay was an avid Dodger baseball and Notre Dame football fan. One of her lifelong dreams came true when she was able to travel to South Bend for a Notre Dame game. She was also able to watch Vin Scully’s final Dodger game on Sunday while in the hospital. Kay died peacefully in her sleep on October 3, 2016.
