Carmen Bernadette Roldan

Carmen Bernadette Carrillo was born on April 16, 1942 in Santa Barbara, California to parents Anthony Edmund Carrillo and Sally Reyes. Carmen
was the oldest of nine siblings including brothers Anthony, Joe, Mario, and Michael, as well as sisters Linda, Ana, Olga, and Diana. In 1946, Carmen’s parents moved to Wilmington where Carmen ended up spending a lifetime.

Carmen had her first child Joey Montijo in January of 1959. Joey was soon followed by sisters Joanna (1961) and Judy (1962). Carmen raised her three children as a single mother working as a waitress until a New Year’s Eve party on December 31, 1968 where she met Robert “Bob” Roldan. The two had a whirlwind romance and were married four months later in April of 1969. Tragically Joanna passed away in July of 1970 during heart surgery while Carmen was pregnant with her fourth child, daughter Antoinette. Antoinette “Toni” Roldan was born two months later and Carmen completed her family with her son Vince who was born in 1974. Carmen and Bob were married for 40 years when he passed away in 2009. Carmen also suffered the tragic loss of her son Joey in 2014. Carmen is survived by her daughters Judy and Toni and her son Vince along with 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Carmen enjoyed opening up her home to her friends and family. She loved a good party and a good bottle of wine. After years of working at Banning High School she found such great pride and joy in being a Docent at the Banning Museum. Her two greatest puppy loves of her life were her Boxer Dogs, Rocky and Princess. Carmen later found love once again when she met her boyfriend Gaspar 5 years ago. Carmen went home to be with the Lord on December 7th, 2022 with family by her side. We love you mama. Thank you for everything.
