Bruce A. Yoho was born in January 22,1943 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Bruce and Ruth Yoho. He was second of four children.
Bruce spent much of his early years bouncing around the United States with his family, finally settling in Washington State. His parents were forced to place Bruce and his siblings in the Hutton Settlement because they could no longer raise them. This period of his life was defining for him as it developed his resilience as a young man and his determination that his future family would not suffer the same fate.
Bruce joined the US Navy in 1962 and was a Damage Control Repairman while aboard the USS Picking, a small but formidable destroyer. He served off the coast of Vietnam and while stationed in Long Beach, CA he meet the love of his life, Rita “Workman” Yoho. Bruce and Rita were married in February 1965 and were married for 43 years until Rita passed away in March 2008. Bruce spent the majority of this working life teaching Aviation Maintenance at Long Beach City College. He contributed immeasurably to the success of thousands of students and built one of the strongest vocational programs at Long Beach City College. Bruce retired to Anza, Ca where he spent his remaining years working on endless projects on his small ranch.
Bruce is survived by his two children and their spouses April Ann and John Patrick Nelson and LTC Lucas John and Michele Lee Yoho, and his three grandchildren: Daulton John Nelson, Molly-Ann Yoho and Sarah Brooklyn Yoho, and three great grandchildren: Kaysn Christopher Nelson, Laityn John Nelson and Jaxtyn Thomas Nelson.
Bruce loved being apart of the Navy and serving his country. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, amateur radio, off-roading, automotive and aircraft maintenance, farming and collecting antique tractors. He was a friend to many, always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever asked, regardless of the circumstance.
Bruce will be missed by his family and friends.
