Bridget (O’Regan) Theiss, age 95, passed away peacefully at Grace Blossom Care, in Lakewood, California with her hospice nurse Yvette by her side, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. She was born on September 5, 1929, in Glasgow, Scotland to Patrick and Elizabeth O’Regan, who have both preceded her in death.

Bridget was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others, first practicing her Catholic faith at St. Roch’s Roman Catholic Church in Glasgow, then continuing that faith in New York, before moving to Long Beach, California and practicing at St. Cornelius Catholic Church.

Bridget lived in Glasgow until she moved to New York in 1956 to provide support for a family with young children. While in New York, she also worked for the Nipps Perfume Factory, where she met the love of her life, and the man she married, Donald (Don) Theiss.  Bridget and Don shared 45 years together in Wappingers Falls, New York, until Don’s passing in 2002. It was shortly after her beloved Don’s passing that Bridget moved cross-country to Lakewood, California to be closer to her sister Mary.

Bridget is preceded in death by her sisters, Frances and Martha, and her brothers, John, James, and Patrick, and is survived by her sister, Mary, who along with her husband, Archie, supported and cared for Bridget throughout her years in California.

In her youth, Bridget loved to work on arts and crafts, and was very gifted in creating ornaments and ceramics. Before moving to New York, Bridget worked for the Glasgow Transportation Corporation, and spent many a night at the dances with friends and family. She especially enjoyed family gatherings at the holidays, sharing stories, playing games, and enjoying a good laugh.

In her later years, Bridget spent time with her walking group at Lakewood Mall, socializing with the St. Cornelius People for Others Organization, and visiting friends and family, including Delfina, who made daily lunch hour visits to Bridget during her final ten months at Grace Blossom Care.

Services for Bridget will be held on November 2, 2024, at 10:30 am at St. Cornelius Catholic Church. A short reception will follow in the Church Hall.
