Betty Jane (Brock) Randall of Lakewood, California passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 11, 2015 at 3:50 pm at Windsor Gardens in North Long Beach at the age of 90. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 2, 1925, to Lena (Kalie) and Howard Brock, the fourth child of seven. Even though times were tough growing up during the depression, she enjoyed life. She taught herself how to sew when she was a teenager and made her first outfit out of curtains! She was very active and enjoyed roller skating and ice skating. She was a welder in Detroit and answered an add for welding work in California, so she moved in with her Aunt Bert and Uncle Bill in Rosemead while she worked as a certified arc and acetylene welder, welding military airplane manifolds during World War II. Later on she worked at Norris Thermador spraying porcelain bathtubs. She met Howard Randall at a roller skating rink and they were married on April 7,1945. He was in the Navy and when his tour of duty ended they settled in California and lived in a cottage type house trailer that was sloped at both ends so they could only stand up in the middle. Then they built a trailer of their own to stay in. After a while she was homesick, so they sold the trailer and went back to Michigan, then moved back to California and bought a house in Norwalk, California in 1949 where they lived until they moved to Lakewood in 1963. She was great at throwing horseshoes, could keep a solid rhythm going on a punching bag, enjoyed bowling, golf and water skiing, and she was amazing the first time she snow skied at the age of 70! She also loved to play Wii golf and went by the name of Betty Boop. She was a touring professional bowler for several years, with a high scratch series of 862 and one of her biggest achievements was runner up in the California State Queens Tournament. She was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress, and was the driving force behind creating the costumes with Kathy for her high school senior production of The Wizard of Oz in 1969. She and Howard were members of The Suburbonites Dance Club and enjoyed all of the friends they met at the dances each month followed by great poker parties the next day. She was a do-it-yourselfer and always did the interior house painting and wall-papering herself. She designed their kitchen remodel several years ago, bought and hand finished all of the cabinets and even tiled the counters. She loved to travel and took numerous trips, often with her sister Shirley and many times with Kathy too to Las Vegas, Europe and beyond. The first cruise she and Shirley took was to the Mexican Riviera and they got totally schnockered at the champagne bon voyage party in their cabin... they giggled so much they barely made it through the life jacket drill then went back to their cabin and passed out until the next morning! She had many adventures with Kathy and Mark and her grandsons, Matthew and Jeremy traveling in their motorhome camping, and there was an amazing trip to Kauai too. She also traveled with Ken and Sandy to Lake Powell and to Maui with Glenn, Candace and Lisa. She loved watching her grandchildren and made it so special for them when she took care of them with their couch-cushion forts, endless Charlie Brown movies, chicken noodle soup, and cinnamon raisin English muffins with peanut butter and jelly! She is survived by her husband Howard Randall of 70 years, son Glenn and his wife Candace Randall, daughter Kathy Randall, daughter-in-law Sandra Randall, three grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Momo Sipes, Jeremy and his wife Aly Sipes and Lisa Randall, and five great-grandchildren Shawn, Hailey, Taylor, Michael and Lily Sipes, her brother Robert Brock of Michigan and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her oldest son, Kenneth Randall, on January 1, 2004, and in years past by her parents Lena and Howard Brock, brothers Howard and Norman Brock, sisters Irene Rose, Shirley Bokor and Barbara Neal. She was an amazing, strong, talented, independent woman, loved by all---
