Bert Alfred Staples was called to his Savior, on October 26, 2015, after his battle with cancer. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on October 5, 1928. He had four siblings, Edward, Hugh, Rosemary and Joan. All of whom are deceased now. Bert joined the military in 1948 thru 1952, where he finished his term as a paratrooper. He went on to complete his BA from Pepperdine in 1952. Bert then joined the Long Beach Fire Department in 1961, and retired in 1982. Bert was known as Buzzy to his fire family, and loved to cook. Buzzy continued to cook for his fire brothers, family and friends even after he retired. He is survived by nieces and nephews, and many family and friends that knew him as Uncle Buz. He will be deeply missed.
