Barbara Jean Boysen
June 15, 1930 — March 8, 2015
Barbara lived in Sioux City, Iowa and then moved to Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Omaha, Nebraska in 1948.
Barbara married Al Boysen in 1949 in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to California in 1950. They were happily married for 65 years. Barbara was a member of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary and a Chairman at St. Maria Goretti Church. She enjoyed making crafts, her missionary work, transcribing books for the blind and spending time with family.
Later, Barbara worked in Interior Decorating and then pursued her education and became a Certified Public Accountant and started up a business for a family friend and worked there for 12 years. She became a member of New Life Community Church where she taught Bible Study and formed their Care Ministry. She was involved in many aspects of the Church. In retirement, Barbara and Al enjoyed traveling with their friends from their small group Bible study class and the choir.
Barbara is survived by her daughters Kathryn Lopez (Bill), Carolyn Steffens (Roger), six grandchildren; Dianne, Daniel, Kristi, Mike, Melissa and Kimberly, ten great grandchildren; Ireland, Jaiden, Chloe, Jacob, Corey, Caylee, Conor, Kingston, Sabrina and Jake, nieces, nephews and sisters in law.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Helen; her husband Albert; and her brother Leo.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at Luyben Dilday Mortuary 5161 E. Arbor Road, Long Beach CA 90808 at 9:00AM on March 30, 2015. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside CA 92518 at 12:15PM.
