Benefiel
June 21, 1943 – March 14, 2026
Barbara C. Benefiel, a beloved wife, mother, aunt, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026. Born on June 21, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, Barbara lived a life marked by kindness, humility, and a dedication to those she loved and cared for.
For over three decades, Barbara devoted herself to her career at Douglas Aircraft Company, where she worked faithfully for thirty-one and a half years. Her work ethic was mirrored in the warmth and care she extended to her family and friends, ensuring that everyone around her always felt supported and cherished.
Barbara was not only a hardworking professional but also a wonderful hostess who made holidays memorable for all who gathered with her. Her Easter carrot cake was legendary, a sweet testament to her loving spirit, and during Christmas, her beautifully decorated sugar cookies brought joy and festive cheer. Family game nights were a special tradition she treasured, where laughter and friendly competition filled the room. Alongside her late sister Joann Quick, Barbara shared joyful moments over an André cold-duck, a simple pleasure that highlighted their close bond. A spirited player, she was especially skilled at Trivial Pursuit, showcasing her sharp mind and love for connection.
Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. Barbara loved to travel, embracing new experiences with enthusiasm. She played piano in her younger years. Daring and adventurous, she pursued learning to fly, a testament to her curious and courageous nature. Deeply involved in the Hi-Tops community, she found purpose and joy through her engagement there. At Starbucks, she particularly enjoyed her Mocha Frappuccino with extra ice, paired deliciously with a gouda bacon sandwich. Barbara delighted in shopping and dining, reveling in the simple pleasures of life. She found joy in outdoor concerts in the park and was an avid attendee of theatrical productions at LaMirada Theater with her daughter Cheryl, celebrating the arts and culture she loved.
Barbara’s family remembers her as a truly great wife and mother. She is lovingly survived by her daughter Cheryl Benefiel, her sister Carolyn Bryan, nieces Lanay McCord, Claudia McFaddin, and Kris Vanhentenryck, and nephew Mark Quick. They, along with many others, carry forward the warmth and love that Barbara generously shared. She was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Hazel Collignon, her husband Benny Benefiel, her daughter Teri Loverde, and her sister Joann Quick, whose memories she held close throughout her life.
Her humble and kind spirit touched all who knew her. Barbara’s legacy is one of unwavering love, care, and dedication, a beacon of light for her family and friends.
