Audrey Belizaire
September 24, 1922 — December 24, 2014
Audrey was born in Carencro, Louisiana on September 24, 1922. The seventh of eight children born to Laura Raymond and John Louis Breaux, she was lovingly known to close family and friends by the nickname "Dat." Audrey married Albert Belizaire in 1946 and moved to Lafayette, Louisiana where she proudly raised 9 children. In 1967, she moved with her children to Long Beach, California and joined St. Anthony Catholic Church where she remained a lifelong patron. Audrey dedicated her life to God, the church and her family. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched. Audrey will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Audrey is survived by (4) children, Dionne Belizaire, Mitchell Belizaire, Russell Belizaire and Carmella Belizaire; (12) grandchildren, Nyla Wilkins Hassell, La Shonda Paster, Jewel Paster, Shayla Paster, Tyesha Christian, Christopher Belizaire, Stacie Belizaire, Lydia Belizaire, Kameron Belizaire-Talevera, Sheldon Grigsby, Russell "Rusty" Belizaire Jr., and Camelia Williams. (17) great-grandchildren; (1) sister, Alberta Breaux Bruno; (6) half-sisters Georgianna Bonner, Dolores Brown, Linda Egland, Anna Sam, Mary Taylor and Gayle Barlow; (1) half-brother Joseph (Joe Louis) Breaux.
She was preceded in death by her parents Laura Raymond Breaux and John Louis Breaux; sons Cleo James Belizaire, Joseph Bennett Belizaire; daughters Laura Julia Belizaire, Mildred Louise Belizaire and Theresa Ann Belizaire; brother Kennedy Breaux; half-brother Elgie Breaux; sisters Ovelia Broussard, Hilda Breaux, Nora Cormier, Laura Breaux and Gertrude Breaux; half-sisters Barbara Noel and Tootsie.
