Arthur Merritt Fitzpatrick

Arthur was born in Red Bank, New Jersey to Irene and Arthur Merrit Fitpatrick, the first. He attended school in Redbank, and then was in the Army as a specialist 3rd class. Art was in the reserves after active duty. After studying engineering in New York City, he worked in astro engineering.

On June 10, 1961, he married the love of his life, Josephine. In 1962, he began working as a junior engineer, then in marketing for the electronics company. The company transferred him to Southern California in the spring of 1968, and so Art and a pregnant Jo, packed up their belongings and their 2 little girls, Bobbie and Julie, and moved to Long Beach, CA. Their son, Pat, was born shortly after. They’ve lived in the same house all of these years, creating many happy memories.

Arthur continued to work in aerospace, which gave him some wonderful opportunities to travel, often with his wife, Jo, at his side. After retiring, Art continued his travels, and began woodturning, a hobby that lead him to create beautiful works of art and make new friends.

He became active at Saint Cyprian’s, serving as head sacristan for many years, a eucharistic minister, and lector. Arthur and his wife, Jo, also had a small Bible study in their home.

Other activities Art enjoyed during his lifetime were camping, flying small planes, reading, and spending time with friends. Art enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and was fortunate to meet and enjoy his 3 great- grandchildren.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Josephine, his children Bobbie, Julie (Dan), and Pat (Kimberly), and his grandchildren Darcy (Dave), Caitlin, Keegan, Drew, Danny (Luiza), Hannah, and great-grandchildren Charlotte, Mason, and Harper.
