Armand P. Wang Profile Photo

On February 14, 2021, Armand P. Wang entered into eternal rest at Kaiser Hospital Anaheim after a two week battle with COVID-19.  The Lord loved him so much that on Valentine’s Day, He removed Armand’s suffering and took him to heaven to live in perpetual joy and peace.

Armand was born in Nanjing, China on March 19, 1939 to Shing Zen Wang (father) and Chou Show Ing (mother).  As the third of 6 siblings (2 sisters and 3 brothers), he wanted to make a name for himself and sought higher education.  After receiving his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Chung Yuan University in Taipei, Taiwan, Armand started working at Ming Chuan College , an all women’s college in Taipei, where he met the love of his life Margaret Chang. Their fondness of eating and playing basketball brought them together in love and spirit, and they were wed on June 29, 1967.  Two months later, Armand moved to California to begin his graduate studies at CSU Long Beach . One year later, Margaret joined him in California to begin their life together. They served as the “pioneers” who paved the way for their family members from both sides to eventually join them in the U.S.  In 1970, Armand earned his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and moved to the little town of La Palma, and 27 years later, finally settled in Cypress.

Armand was a great builder and lover.  Throughout his 25 year career, he was a builder of structures, highways, and residential and commercial properties. He first started as an assistant highway engineer and later retired as a transportation engineer from Caltrans .  He also started his own company HHK Construction, Inc . for over 20 years as a licensed general building and engineering contractor and real estate broker. He developed and completed over 15 construction projects that included motels and inns, apartments, townhomes, condominiums, and one of the temples at the Hsi Lai Temple in Hacienda Heights, CA.  But most significantly, Armand built the foundation for his family.  He loved seeing his family together, and with his strong but gentle and quiet presence, kept his family united with his constant acts of unconditional love. He along with his wife always instilled strong family values and the importance of preserving our Chinese heritage, culture and traditions.  We highlighted every Chinese New Year, every birthday, every Western and Asian holiday with ample food, stories, and laughter.  He greatly loved his family, his favorite foods of Peking duck, baked beans, peanuts (all nuts, in fact), pecan pie, and soybean milk, his family trips and gatherings, and his times with family and friends.  He especially treasured his 50 th wedding anniversary celebration with Margaret along with his daughter and son’s family on a cruise two years ago.  Armand was an absolute lover of life.

Armand was an amazing and loving husband, father, uncle, brother, and grandfather. We miss him deeply and our hearts still search for him yet our soul knows he is at peace.  We will always cherish the abundance of love he had for us and celebrate his full and well-lived life with all the countless memories he helped create.

Armand is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Margaret S. Wang and:

  • Son John Wang and daughter-in-law Erni Setiadi-Wang

  • Sister-in-law Nancy Chen
