Antonio “Tony” Ferreira Machado died at 82 years of age, during the early morning on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Family was lovingly by his side.
Tony was born in Cypress, California on June 19, 1939. He began his young life in Northern California on a farm in Manteca. He was the third son of Mary and Frank F. Machado.
When he was six years old, his father died. He moved with his mother and two brothers, Frank and Joe, to Niles, California. Their younger sister Mary Ann was born soon thereafter.
Tony resided in California most of his life. He had worked for various companies, including Flying Tiger Line, and was a licensed contractor. He also owned several types of businesses during his life which included a donut shop and a sandwich shop.
He loved working and playing outdoors and could often be found off-roading with family and friends. Tony had a strong presence, but was a warm and kind man, known for his sense of humor and loving heart. He had a way of making even strangers around him feel like friends, and was a big kid at heart. He loved children and was Dad to nine of his own. Those who knew him could see that he had a gift for enjoying life, no matter what came his way.
Tony lived the past 15 years in Jamestown, California, at the foothills of Sierra Nevada, near his son, Joe Machado. However, his last few months were spent living in Southern California near several of his other children.
Tony always knew the Lord. When his faith was renewed in 2000 he rejoiced and was eager to share it with those around him. He took comfort in knowing that, through Jesus Christ, he is a child of God. This was especially so during his final months.
Tony is survived by his sister, Mary Ann and his nine children, DeAnn, Diane, Tony, Frank, Joe, Melinda, Steven, April, and Liana. They will all treasure the lessons they learned from their father and the love and simple kindness he taught them to share with others. He is also survived by his beautiful and precious 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. They will remember how Grandpa always joked and played with them.
