Angela (Angie) Chavez Garcia was born February 12, 1962 in El Paso Texas to Amelia Chavez. Angie was the eldest to sister Maria Gonzales. She was the wife of Fernando Garcia and mother of four children, Vanessa, Lauro, Luis and Julian. She was the aunt to sister Maria’s kids; Daniel, Denise and Michael. Angie was such a proud grandmother of three grandbabies, Noah, Mia and Elijah.
Angie was a strong, caring and loving woman. She was always concerned for her friends and family, and those in need. She and Fernando would make sandwiches during the holiday to hand out to the less fortunate. They would also gather bags of clothing and toys to take to children in Tijuana or to a nearby church. She worked as a Pediatrician’s Assistant for over 20 years and she always tried to help those who didn’t know much English; translating documents and advised many mothers where to go to get
assistance for their children.
She loved seeing her family together and instilled strong family values and the importance of keeping the family united. Celebrating birthdays was big to her, she would always say, “we should at least have a small cake,” but in our family it was a small cake plus the birthday person's favorite dish for dinner, never just a small cake. She loved to see her grandbabies happy, often taking them to the park, zoo, a museum or the aquarium along with Grandpa Fernando.
Angie loved to dance. Before her illness you could find her, Amelia and Maria sharing a bucket of chilled Bud Lights and dancing the night away. Often, we’d gather in her home, listen to music and dance. She would point out what song was who’s favorite and interpret what the song really meant.
We will miss her dearly as a piece of our heart has gone to heaven. She leaves us with an abundant amount of values, memories and love. We thank god for having given us the gift of having her in our lives, for having had a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend as beautiful and extraordinary as her.
