Angela “Angie” Benko** peacefully went home to her Lord on September 21, 2024. She was born on December 31, 1936, in Greenwich, England. She was a loving sister and devoted mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-aunt, and friend to all who knew her.
Growing up in Greenwich and Feltwell with her siblings Jean and Steven, Angela cherished her English roots and often reminisced about exploring the countryside, fostering a lifelong love of nature. As an adult, she moved from England to Southern California with her husband and two boys, eventually raising a family of seven children. Angela embraced motherhood with open arms, making her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren feel uniquely loved and cared for.
Angela’s warmth and charm, highlighted by her delightful British accent, naturally drew people to her. She was quick to make friends, whether during a doctor’s visit or a meal at Hof’s Hut, and her sense of humor—passed down from her father, John Martin—left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She had a special connection with animals, particularly her beloved pets, MASH, Alena, and Sophie, who brought her joy throughout her life.
Angela's kindness and compassion touched the lives of all she encountered, and her presence will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son Joseph II (Dana); son Michael (Vickie) grandsons Ryan and Casey, granddaughter Hailie; daughter Teresa (Larry) Harvey, grandsons Seth and Shane (Brittany); daughter Leona, granddaughter Ashley, great-grandson Bricio (Diaz), granddaughter Emily (Dahlen), great-granddaughter Olive, grandson Dustin (Dahlen); son Robert (Mitsuko), granddaughter Leah, granddaughter Emma; son Patrick (Lisa), granddaughters Abigail and Clara; brother Steven Martin. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth and her sister Jean Lawley.
A memorial service will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Luyben Dilday Mortuary, 5161 E. Arbor Rd. with a reception to follow.
