ANDREW JAMES LYNCH
February 2, 1935 – February 28, 2017
After a 6 year battle with cancer, Andrew James “Andy” Lynch passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on February 28, 2017.
He is survived by his adoring wife Rosemarie who has stood by his side for 51 years. His children: Linda (Michael), James (Viyada), Kathleen and Michael.
Also his grandchildren: Torey, Ashlee, David, Sara, Dillon and Brendon.
Andy was born on February 2, 1935. He always loved the fact that it was ground hogs day. He was born in Chicago while his parent James and Agnes were vacationing and visiting family. He grew up in Gardena, California with his sister Delores and graduated from Gardena High School and also went to UCLA to get his bachelor’s degree.
He joined the Army in 1952 and did one tour in Germany. He was discharged in 1957. He worked at McDonnel Douglas and finally settled at Sparkletts where he retired in 1992. He enjoyed his retirement to the fullest! Andy and Rosemarie traveled, and traveled some more. They went on over 10 cruises, traveled up and down the United States he found every last Lynch relative he could connect with. He loved his genealogy and would search and search and reach out to long lost relatives on a regular basis.
Besides his family and traveling, Andy loved his football and none more than UCLA Bruins and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, he went to numerous games and held his UCLA season tickets for almost 30 years. Many debates and money won and lost with the cousins over his beloved Bruins and Fighting Irish. He also loved playing cribbage and continued to play in a club and tournaments until he became too weak to go. He taught his kids all the lost art of cribbage.
But his family is who he adored. He was a tremendous and devoted husband, and a very loving father. He was always there for anyone who needed a hand or a friendly voice or advice. He was so devoted to all those he loved. Always kind and friendly, welcoming to everyone he met. There are no words to say how much he will be missed by those whose lives he touched.
