André Henri Chapdelaine

André Henri Chapdelaine was born in Montréal, Canada on April 11, 1935 to Leo and Rose Chapdelaine. He was one of 11 siblings. Survived by his immediate family, spouse, Kathy, son, Robert, daughter, Karen. He is also survived by siblings Rozanne Gougeon, Rita Brunet, Lucille Pemberton, Marcel Chapdelaine, Denise Davis and brother in-law Don Davis, sister in-law Yvette Chapdelaine in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death are his parents Leo and Rose Chapdelaine, his twin brother Jacques, brother Henri and sisters Rolland Chénier, Simonne and Claire Chapdelaine.

At the age of 18, André with his parents and sister, Denise, moved to Long Beach, California in November 1953. Lucille and Rozanne and their families joined them at a later date. He was active with the Scott Club where he met his beloved wife, Kathy, soon to be married on October 26, 1968. Including courtship and marriage, André and Kathy were together for almost 52 years. André was a welder by trade working in the aircraft industry for 40 years. He loved family more than anything else, would brighten a room with laughter, chatter, dancing and music. And if he had his way, would spend every day with family over food and chocolate pudding. He passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the age of 82.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018, from 5-8 pm, followed by the Catholic Vigil Service from 7-8 pm at Luyben Dilday Mortuary, Long Beach, California. The Rite of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyprian’s Catholic Church on Clark Avenue at 11:00 am on Friday, February 2, 2018, and internment at All Souls Catholic Cemetery in Long Beach, California.
