Allison Scales Byerly

Allison Scales Byerly (born June 4th, 1954, in Long Beach, CA) passed away September 10, 2019 after a battle with cancer. Allison was taken from us too young but lived a rich life full of love for art, music, travel, animals, and people, and she left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She made art all her life, her work ranging from making stained glass windows still adorning homes in Long Beach, jewelry, pottery, and fine art; to making graphic art for TRW; to teaching art and math at various schools in Los Angeles and Long Beach Unified School Districts, and finally at Judy Ivy Burton Tech in Los Angeles where she touched the lives of countless students and peers. She is survived by her two children, Lauren Elizabeth Byerly and Zachary Stuart Byerly; son-in-law, Chris Nagel; two younger sisters, Lesley Jane Richardson and Gina Lynn Foss; seven nieces and nephews, three nieces- and nephews-in-law, and nine great-nieces and nephews; as well as two dogs, two cats, and 3 grandkitties.
Donations in her honor may be made to the ASPCA, the VFW, or any animal rescue, art in schools, or women artisan organizations.
