Alfred Hernandez Jr., known to loved ones as Junior or Al, passed away December 27, 2020 at the age of 62 from complications related to COVID-19. He was born August 20, 1958 in Los Angeles, California to Alfred and Emily Hernandez. He married his longtime girlfriend, Shirleen Maggay, April 15, 2012.
He attended Millikan High School where he was a member of the track and field team and graduated in 1976. He worked for many years in security at Los Angeles International Airport.
He is survived by his wife Shirleen Hernandez, mother Emily Hernandez, sister Mary Finger, sister Linda Hernandez, brother Rick Hernandez, sister Dora Hernandez, sister Liz Turner, many in-laws, aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Alfred Hernandez, sister Alice Hernandez-Gaona and nephew Ryan Robert Hernandez.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Cornelius Church, 5500 E. Wardlow Road, Long Beach, CA 90808 on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 12 noon.
