Admiral Franklin Brawley
Born on September 4, 1937 in McCroy Arkansas to Onie and Oscar Brawley. The seventh child out of eight. He had four older sisters, 2 older brothers and 1 younger brother. He was raised on a farm, where you would find chickens galore and many other farm animals. He loved to hunt and fish as a kid. He moved with his mom, dad, and a few siblings to California when he was 15. He attended Excelisor High School in Norwalk, where he was active in sports and loved to play and watch football.
He met Diane Thomson, who would one day be Diane Brawley, on a multi-friend date at Knott’s Berry Farm. They Married in August of 1959 and bought a home in Lakewood, Ca . in 1962. It is the home they continued to share until his death. 1962 proved to be good year as they also welcomed their first child, Linda Brawley-Maurice. Their second child arrived in 1965, Karen Brawley-Angermund.
Admiral worked for General Moters Acceptance Corporation for over 30 years. He held several positions, but always focused on the finace side of the business. He retired in 1993. Young and ready to take on the full time role of Grandpa.
He was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren. Kelsie Maurice, Cody Maurice, Alexis Angermund and Ryan Angermund. They were truly the light in his eyes. He was affectionetly called “Papa”. There wasn’t an activity to be had that involved his grandchildren where you wouldn’t find him. He sat on many sidelines and yelled at many a refs and many an umps!! He is hard to spot in family photos because he was the photographer! He loved to shoot the grandkids in action and did an amazing job of documenting our family history through pictures. Our family was blessed to share vactions at Shasta Lake every summer for over 15 years…Sea-dooing, boating, tubing and course navagating though Papa’s pranks. He hated to get ready for a party, but LOVED to be at one! He told amazing stories and shared amazing adventures. People loved to be around him.
His whole life he always enjoyed hunting and fishing and continued to do them actively with his friends, nephews and sons-in-law. He also loved boating, spending time with his family and pulling a good prank. He was quite the jokster. His memory will live long in others that have heard and shared his stories .
He is survived by;
His wife Diane, his dauhter Linda and her huband Ric, his daughter Karen and her husband Bob and his four Grandchildren; Kelsie, Cody, Alexis and Ryan.
