Adalberto Ernesto Ramirez (Ernie) April 23, 1944 - July 28, 2026

Ernie, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 28, 2026, at the age of eighty-two. He was born on April 23, 1944, in Los Angeles on a housing project known as "Dog Town". He graduated from El Rancho High School with the Class of 1962. He excelled in sports, competing in both the wrestling and swimming teams.

He proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1965, earning an honorable discharge. That same sense of duty and steadiness stayed with him for the rest of his life.

Ernie built his working life around mechanical skills, a talent that came naturally to him. He held various careers, but the thread connecting all of them was the same, a love of working with his hands and an eagerness to put that skill to help others around him. Whether it was fixing a car, repairing something broken, or helping with a project for a family member or friend, he was always ready to jump in. He simply was not built to sit idle.

He worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family, and those sacrifices never went unnoticed. That same restless energy carried into his middle age years. He became deeply immersed in exercise, health, and fitness. He trained relentlessly and went on to complete twelve consecutive marathons from 1992-2003, a testament to his discipline and his refusal to slow down.

He was married twice. His first marriage brought him two children, whom he loved dearly. His second marriage brought four stepchildren into his life, which he welcomed as his own. In time, his family grew to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom he adored.

Raised in the Roman Catholic faith, he carried its values of family, generosity, and hard work, even if he was not one for much ceremony. More than anything, he loved being surrounded by family, especially during the holidays, with all the food, noise, and togetherness that came with them. Those gatherings were where he was happiest.

Ernie is survived by his son, ex-wives, stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, niece, nephews, and friends whose lives he touched along the way. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but he will always be remembered for his hard work, his generous heart, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends.
